Having useful content to share on social media should be one the many components of your marketing, but please, don’t forget about personalization.
It’s no secret that people are looking for good content but as a social media manager/marketer, always searching the web for good and original content, I have to say that it’s not always so easy to find.
Defining content marketing
This is easy; it’s content that you put out; on social media and on your blog. It’s meant to attract, create a relationship with and retain a clearly defined audience with the intention that they will eventually become clients. This content, must be relevant to your business and be interesting to your already acquired and potential clients.
Why is it hard to find good content?
I think there are 3 mains reasons for this :
- Time: creating good content takes time, time that most businesses don’t have time to create their own original content, so they share other people’s content.
- Money : content and social media marketing, like any other type of marketing, is an investment; meaning that it has to be included in your budget.
- Knowledge: businesses are not always knowledgeable about what type of content they should be putting out there. Add to that, not understanding the two previous points; they aren’t seeing the results they want and need, and end up getting frustrated with it all. Possibly abandoning a marketing strategy that has the potential of being useful, and profitable to their business.
Content personalization, why you need to do this
Repurposing or sharing content from others is a good strategy to get on the radar of those content creators, to supplement your own production effort and to gain the trust of potential clients because they see that you’re not just tooting your own horn.
However, this shouldn’t be the only content you put out there otherwise, your audience will become bored and disinterested. And, this way of going about content marketing is leaving the web filled with content that’s been chewed up and spat out again and again. Hence you should be personalizing your content and producing your own and a good variety of it too.
In our next article, we’ll cover the type of original content you can produce, whether you are a freelancer, solopreneur or have an office and employees.
